Are we safer in the dark?

Concerned about government secrecy, domestic spying and the like? Take a look at this video, produced by openthegovernment.org as part of national "Sunshine Week," held in March.

The goal of Sunshine Week is to "raise awareness of the importance of open government to the public."

Sunshine Week is co-sponsored by the following organizations:

American Association of Law Libraries
American Library Association
American Society of Newspaper Editors / Sunshine Week
Association of Research Libraries
Coalition of Journalists for Open Government
League of Women Voters
National Freedom of Information Coalition
OpenTheGovernment.org
Special Libraries Association

Openthegovernment.org focuses on issues related to: democracy; environment, health and safety; national security; and government accountability. In particular, it has an array of information and resources related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the NSA's domestic spying program.

first of all, i know that this comment has nothing to do with this topic. Nonetheless, i want to point out that great website link about "Are we safer in the dark." I believe that with websites such as myspace which are directed towards youngster, sites that portray and idea with visuals and easy to understand facts help with the understanding of people. The site has a great cartoon that is both humorous and enriching. Again, it is easy to understand and it provides the reader with an over view of some of the biggest issues that surround the United States today. I recommend anyone to go into this site, simply to enhance ones knowledge.

I thought that the cartoon was ironically funny and mocked a lot of real-life issues and questions that we have today. Sites like this one are more and more needed as time progresses because more and more lies are being told as time unfolds. The American people deserve to know what is going on within their own country, and our rights must be preserved despite all of the so called "protection" that is being offered to us in forms like the Patriot Act etc.
